Watching Edie - Camilla Way

Book Review: Watching Edie – Camilla Way

My colleague left Watching Edie on my desk the other day and promised me a wild ride. And a wild ride it was. I haven’t read any other books by Camilla Way, but as it transpires her new thriller Who Killed Ruby is already available on Kindle, and paperback will be released in June. It sounds so good!

THERE ARE SOME FRIENDS YOU’LL NEVER FORGET…
NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY

BEFORE
Edie is the friend that Heather has always craved. But one night, it goes terrifyingly wrong. And what started as an innocent friendship ends in two lives being destroyed.

AFTER
Sixteen years later, Edie is still rebuilding her life. But Heather isn’t ready to let her forget so easily. It’s no coincidence that she shows up when Edie needs her most.

NOW
Edie or Heather?
Heather or Edie?

Someone has to pay for what happened, but who will it be?

2019 Challenge – A book picked out for you by someone else

You know those girls who have it all going for them? They have the looks, the friends, the everything? That was Edie.

When she moved to a new town, making friends at her new High School was no trouble for her. That’s when she met Heather- a chubby Billy no mates, who struggled in social situations.

Heather felt like luck had finally turned for her and made it her mission to become best friends with Edie. It was all going to plan until Connor emerged to the picture. That boy stank of trouble.

Edie quickly fell in love and had little time for Heather. However the new boyfriend wasn’t the only thing that came between them, it was a tragedy that tore them apart and made Edie flee to London.

16 years later, things are different. Edie is single and expecting a baby, whilst working all hours to save as much money as possible before the little one arrives. One day out of the blue her estranged friend emerges and she’s the last person Edie wants in her life… What does she want, why isn’t she leaving her alone?

Ohhh Watching Edie is a breath of fresh air. The story is divided into 4 parts, each one more gripping than before. A dark narrative exploring the dynamics of friendship, love, jealousy and betrayal. Super suspenseful and the twist pulled the rug from under my feet. Easily a read-in-one-sitting type of book.

5 out of 5 stars!
